Shroud Cay- Turtles, Rock Jumping and Friends

We were in Shroud Cay and I didn’t want to leave. It is so beautiful there! I could have stayed forever. The water is as clear as a bright blue sky and as warm as bathtub. There is a mangrove/stream thingy that runs all the way from one side of the island to the other. In the stream there are SO many turtles. I saw one turtle that was almost the size of me. At one point I was swimming and I saw a turtle not too far from me. I swam quickly to try and catch up to it. At one point I was only inches away from her. I know it was a girl because girls have short tails and boys have much longer tails. I continued following her for another minute until she sped away. It was so amazing being in the water with a turtle. I never thought I would be swimming right next to such a magnificent creature. I will never forget this day, ever, in a million years!

At the end of the stream there is something called “The Washing Machine”. The current is so strong there, that once you jump into the water, you are pushed quickly along the shore and around in a circle. There is a big rock that you can jump off of. I jumped off a bunch of times with my friend Rasmus. The water is quite deep there, so you can do all sorts of jumps. I wouldn’t recommend diving at low tide though. At high tide, you may have a chance, but I didn’t risk it. I did a 360 a few times and Ben was able to do a 720. Rasmus was able to do a 540. Rasmus little sister, Mila, almost got a 180. Trying to get across the stream from one side to the other was very difficult due to the current. Good thing my swimming has gotten much better this trip.

Later that day we were all dry and didn’t want to get wet again, but we did want to keep jumping off stuff. So Rasmus and I ran around the beach trying to find a spot where we could jump off something into powdery sand. After a couple of minutes we found the perfect spot. It was a rock with a bit of a lip under it, so you had to be sure to jump out far enough. We jumped and jumped and had a ton of fun. I wanted to have the most fun while I was there and spend as much time as I could with Rasmus because he lives in Sweden, well he lives on his boat like we do, but eventually hell go back to Sweden and I knew we would both be going our separate ways in a few days.

Before we left the Washing Machine we all jumped into the water one last time. We hopped into the dingy and started to cruise away. Just as we pulled away we noticed a sand bar and all the kids jumped out and ran to the sandbar. We ran around and played for a minute or so and then jumped back into our dingys and cruised home.

That night was Daddy’s birthday! We celebrated with a steak dinner and a yummmmmmy chocolate cake that Mommy made from scratch. Sometimes we dont always have all the ingrediants for stuff, so we have to improvise. And thats just what mommy did for the cake. And it was so yummy!

We watched the sun set and started to watch a movie.

We went to bed knowing that there was another adventure ahead waiting for us the next day.

THE END
