Highbourne Cay

We arrived at Highbourne Cay around 1:30 on January 3rd. After dropping anchor in the crystal-clear water, we launched the dinghy and headed ashore. Highbourne is a private island resort, and the only way to land is by dining at the restaurant, which suited us just fine. On the ride in, we spotted a large group of nurse sharks swimming together. Seeing so many up close was pretty incredible.

The island is beautiful and the resort impeccably maintained. We enjoyed a great lunch and used the time to talk through plans for the week ahead as we continued south toward George Town. Back on the boat, Theo and Adam took advantage of the flat-calm conditions and went out on the foil board. Both managed to get up and briefly pop the foil, but neither could quite control the flight yet. We all agreed it’s something we’re determined to figure out before returning to colder northern waters.

We wrapped up the day with dinner aboard Nanook, watching another stunning sunset. The plan was set to continue south the next morning to Warderick Wells, which is part of the Bahamas Land and Sea Park.
