Thanksgiving in Savannah
One day when we were in Savannah, I woke up to the sound of the coffee machine grinding and my mom and dads voices. I reluctantly pulled myself out of bed and got up. After brushing my teeth, I dragged my slightly less sleepy body over to the table to eat breakfast and watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. We watched some good floats and performances, and some not so great floats and performances. When we lived in NYC we would go over to the West Side the night before thanksgiving to watch all the floats get blown up. One year we even watched the parade from the western edge of central park. It was pretty cool.
My parents started to make the turkey but they realized it wouldn't fit into our small oven. My dad had the smart idea to spatchcock it, which just means removing the spine so it lays flatter. The turkey fit perfectly and we started to make the other side dishes.
After watching the parade, I walked up to the pilot house and did some of my homework. Once I was done with that, I played some games with my little brother Theo. By then it was almost time for dinner so I helped set the table and bring the sides over. Everything tasted really good! It was a bit weird eating Thanksgiving dinner surrounded by palm trees though. Last year we ran 3 miles in the snow on Thanksgiving!
Once dinner was over, we watched a movie and played some card games. After, I hopped into my bed and went to sleep.
